Why One of Our Propane Trucks Is Named After a Medal of Honor Recipient
The Fourth of July is about more than fireworks and cookouts. It’s a day to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy—and the sacrifices that have made those freedoms possible. At Tankfarm, we don’t take that lightly. Behind every propane delivery, every summer meal cooked over a flame, and every family gathered in a backyard is a legacy of service, strength, and courage.
That’s why one of our propane delivery bobtails is named “Romesha”—in honor of Staff Sergeant Clinton L. Romesha, a Medal of Honor recipient who exemplifies the true meaning of bravery and leadership.
The Story of Staff Sergeant Clinton Romesha
Clinton Romesha, originally from Lake City, California, joined the U.S. Army in 1999 and quickly gained the respect of those around him. Soft-spoken and steady under pressure, Romesha became a leader known for putting his soldiers first.
But it was on October 3, 2009, at a remote U.S. Army outpost in Afghanistan, that Romesha would become a national hero.
Combat Outpost Keating was in a highly vulnerable location, surrounded by steep mountains that gave the enemy the high ground. On that morning, over 300 Taliban fighters launched a coordinated, all-out attack. Armed with rockets, machine guns, and mortars, they aimed to overrun the base.
Despite being outnumbered and under siege, Romesha didn’t hesitate. Amid a barrage of enemy fire and after being wounded by shrapnel, he sprang into action. He led efforts to secure the perimeter, coordinated reinforcements, and directed air support. Romesha personally engaged enemy fighters, helped wounded soldiers to safety, and even led a counterattack to reclaim ground the Taliban had taken.
His actions saved lives—and turned the tide of the battle.
For his extraordinary heroism, Romesha was awarded the Medal of Honor in 2013 by President Barack Obama. He accepted it on behalf of the men he served with, especially those who didn’t return home.

Why Tankfarm Named a Truck After Him
At Tankfarm, we believe in honoring heroes in meaningful ways. Propane may be our product, but our purpose runs deeper: we exist to bring peace of mind to homeowners and support the communities we serve. Naming a propane bobtail after Staff Sergeant Romesha is our way of showing that the values we admire—service, sacrifice, and strength—aren’t just ideals. They’re real. They roll with us every day.
“Romesha” is more than just a name on the side of a truck. It’s a reminder that freedom is powered by the actions of those who’ve served. As “Romesha” travels through neighborhoods delivering propane for grills, home heating, and water heaters, it also carries a message: never forget those who’ve made everyday life in America possible.
Independence Day and the Spirit of Service
The Fourth of July marks the birth of American independence, but the spirit of the holiday lives in the brave men and women who have stood up to protect that freedom time and time again.
This Independence Day, we reflect not only on the founding of our country but also on the ongoing commitment of our military, past and present. Veterans like Staff Sergeant Romesha remind us that freedom doesn’t come easily. It is preserved by people willing to fight for it, defend it, and uphold it no matter the odds.
At Tankfarm, we want to use this opportunity to say thank you to every veteran, every active-duty service member, and every military family. Your courage and resilience inspire us. You are the reason we can safely celebrate our freedoms each year.
A Moment of Recognition
While we celebrate this holiday with joy and pride, we also encourage everyone to take a moment of recognition. Whether it’s displaying the flag, talking with a veteran in your life, or simply learning more about heroes like Clinton Romesha, there are countless ways to honor the spirit of the Fourth.
We hope that by sharing this story, more people will learn about the real heroes among us—and carry their legacy forward.
From Our Team to Yours
This Fourth of July, as you gather with friends and family, grill burgers, watch the fireworks, or relax under the stars, know that Tankfarm is proud to play a small part in powering your celebration. And while we keep your propane flowing, we’re also keeping stories like Romesha’s alive.
So if you spot “Romesha” on the road this week, give her a wave. She’s not just delivering fuel—she’s delivering a reminder of what freedom truly means.
